Dear Lights Fest Participants-

The Lights Fest event this weekend is being postponed one day, from Saturday April 22nd to Sunday April 23rd. Start time and location remain the same.

We have been following a 10-day forecast for the event and there is a high likelihood of rain and lightning. After consulting with all parties involved we have been advised that the best plan of action for participants would be to reschedule the event. This has been advised for the following reasons:

  • Lightning – safety is our number one concern. Unfortunately, this venue is unable to provide adequate shelter from weather hazards for such a large group of participants.
  • Inclement weather impedes the lanterns from rising. When it rains, the water saturates the paper lanterns, increasing their weight, and inhibits their ability to take flight. Wind also creates the same result by removing the hot air from the lantern.
  • Because this is a farm area, heavy rain has the potential to create unsafe traffic conditions on the rural roads and parking areas.

We are aware and sensitive to the fact that this complicates plans that have already been set in motion by our participants. We apologize for this inconvenience, however, we feel this is the best option for the current conditions. If for some reason you are unable to attend the new date on the following day, please reach out to us at with “Nashville Weather” in the Subject line.

We appreciate your patience, and look forward to celebrating such a magical moment on Sunday at the same time and place. Remember to share this information with all of your friends and family who also purchased tickets to the originally scheduled Saturday Lights Fest event.

One last quick reminder – it is more important than ever to make sure you bring your own collapsible chairs or other form of seating. The festival area will probably be damp still, and we want you to be as comfortable as possible. And ladies … leave your high heels at home. They weren’t meant to handle mud 🙂 See you soon!
